Along the water

The Moulin de Hollange was built in the remarkable natural site near Fauvillers. This watermill is one of the last working ones in Belgium. Visitors can admire the mechanism, gear, millstone used to produce quality flour.

The former mining site of Plombières is now a nature reserve characterised by the presence of calamine grasslands. Growing there is a special flora linked to the concentration of zinc and other heavy metals in the substratum, of which the calamine pansy is the most representative.

Thuin, once a boatmen's town, reveals part of its history to visitors. Step on board this narrowboat-museum, anchored by the Quai de Sambre and discover what the daily waterway life used to be like in the region.
