The Lanaye locks, located on the Meuse by the Dutch border (province of Liège), mark the junction of the Canal de Lanaye and the Canal Albert.

This iconic site sees every year 11 millions tons of cargo pass by every year. Its 14 m slope is the highest in Belgium.

It is possible to get closer to the smaller locks and their panoramic view on the region.

Near the Lanaye lock:

  • Get on your bike and make the most of the RAVel network - there are stunning  trails to enjoy (13, 23 and 31 km)
  • These routes can also be walked.
