At the peak of an undulation towering above the surrounding meadows, can be seen the silhouette of the Château de Fosteau. This imposing 14th-century fortified manor house is still armed with its seven elegant towers.
Visiting the castle
The Lords of Semousies, Sars, Zwenne, Marotte, Henry, Jamblines and, finally, Aoust carefully designed residential buildings around the central keep. In this château, you can see one of the finest Gothic rooms in Belgium, a dungeon, Count Reille's room (Napoleon's former general) a Pharmacy museum... The castle has been listed a historical monument and the surrounding area awarded the rank of site since 1979.
Visiting the park
Don't miss the beautiful French gardens, designed as a series of terraces laid to lawn spread out down to the pond.
Guided tours of the castle and park can be organised by the castle's owner.
