- The most beautiful villages of Wallonia
Nestled in a valley surrounded by four hills, Celles sure is an adorable gem. Make a detour to discover its castle, Romanesque collegiate church, traditional stone houses, fountain and excellent restaurants.
A rich cultural heritage
Crossed by a little stream, Celles was also beautifully adorned with trees and blooms. Take a walk through its pretty streets to admire its picturesque house then stop by the Saint-Hadelin collegiate church: a Romanesque masterpiece. The Saint Hadelin hermitage, on the hill overlooking the village, also is worth an additional stroll. To get there, simply follow the Way of the Cross, artistically presented.
The history of the village
There is more to see: the stunning fountain, the Panther (a German tank) dating from the Battle of the Bulge, the Feudal Castle of Vêves. Celles has designed a well signed 2 km trail for visitors, with didactic panels giving explanations on each sight.
Coming in July? Join the traditional flea market taking place on the 21st (Belgium's national day).
A gourmet stop
This sweet village also offers a lovely range of high-quality restaurants. La Clochette, Le Fenil, Le Bistrot de l’Atelier salé and Le Saint-Hadelin are perfect places to discover local dishes along the seasons. Some often offer lodging options.
