A university brewery in Gembloux

In 2019, Gembloux.beer S.A. was born with the ambitious vision of renovating a former laboratory on the Faculty campus into a brewery and a place of relaxation, production and research. This framework now offers students and researchers the opportunity to benefit from advanced equipment to carry out their TFE and their research, particularly in psychology, microbiology and around alcohol dependence.

Since 2023, Gembloux.beer has produced 3,200 hl of beer per year.

A wide range of beers

In its state-of-the-art facilities, the Gembloux.Beer brewery produces a wide range of barrel-aged beers. To name a few:

• Gembloux Abbey 8% (created in 1980 by students of Gembloux Agro Bio Tech)
• Splash 2.9%
• Wheelbarrow pilsner 5.5%
• In the woods 6.5%
• Kilt 9%
• Spirit 10%

Your visit to the brewery

The different stages of producing a craft beer are presented thanks to an educational fresco. The bioengineers who lead the visit explain precisely the scientific aspects of production.

You then pass into the production hall, via the cellar (where barreled beers are aged), to learn about the practical aspects of manufacturing.

The visit ends with a beer tasting in the taproom. On request, a certified zythologist can intervene for a professional tasting.
