Nestled between Brussels and Liège, this sumptuous 18th century castle in neoclassical style opens its magnificent park to families, offering a range of outdoor activities in an exceptionally green setting.
History
- After the French Revolution, Heylisse Abbey, built in the 12th century, was dissolved and mostly destroyed. The abbot's house remained, and in 1870 was restructured into the present castle.
- The castle and park were acquired by the Province of Brabant in 1962 and thereafter opened to the public
- At the heart of the estate is the Musée d'interprétation archéologique, which offers a playful introduction to the local heritage from Prehistoric time to the Roman Conquest.
