- The most beautiful villages of Wallonia
Located in the province of Walloon Brabant, the village of Melin is distinguished by its white ‘Gobertange’ stone. The little stream, ponds, paved roads lined with willows and poplars and woodlands all around add to its irresistible charm.
A white paradise
Lying at the head of the Gobertange valley with commanding views, Mélin is huddled around its church. The white stone houses are ornately decorated and often swathed in flowers. Unusually, these dwellings have gables perpendicular to the road and are arranged in L or U formation. The village also contains four large farms and smaller brick-built dwellings dating from the 19th century. These blend with the white stone to give the village a harmonious feel.
A festive atmosphere
Wine fair, garden festival, exhibitions by local artisans: Melin is a cheerful place to be. Add to this bike rides, organized every first Sunday of the month between April and October: meant for the whole family, 1h30 long, they're perfect to discover the region further.
A gourmet stop
Try La Villa du Hautsart, a gastronomic restaurant with an exceptional setting. Its fantastic terrace opens onto a green oasis of fields. Chef Olivier Wilber both takes care of the customers and checks the most refined dishes are cooked to perfection.
