Stavelot is famous for its Carnival. Think amazing characters, confetti, folkloric dances and fireworks... The tone is set. This city, nestled at the foot of the Hautes Fagnes, welcomes visitors warmly - for nature walks, bike rides and a multitude of fun events through the year.
Laetare – March
This well-known carnival in Belgium revolves around three days of festivities where everyone joins in. Carnival, dancing ball, fireworks, procession… The stars are the famous Blancs-Moussis character (a nickname which literally means “dressed in white” in Walloon).
Maxime Monfort Classique – May
Experience this cycling loop, part of the official cycle touring calendar, going through the hills of the region before returning to Stavelot. There are 3 routes to choose from: the longest (around 150 km) follows the hills of Wanne, Stockeu, Haute Levée, Rosier and goes all the way to Nadrin. The intermediate one (around 100 km) climbs Wanne, the Haute Levée and the Rosier while the shortest (50 km) is accessible to the less seasoned cyclists. A special route of around 30 km, following the Pre-RAVeL 44A and the RAVeL 45, has been designed for families.
Une chanson peut en cacher une autre – October
renowned for its conviviality is the perfect introduction to Francophone artists of all generations. A fantastic way to connect a little more with our culture. It's all about sharing... and good music, of course!
