A full size theatrical outdoor show
Everyone thinks they know the Beauty and the Beast's story. Yet there are multiple versions... The one presented this summer in Villers-la-Ville goes back to the original tale written by Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve in 1740.
A young girl named Belle sacrifices herself to save her father, condemned to death for having picked a rose in the domain of a terrible monster. Against all expectations, the Beast spares Belle and invites her to live in his domain, not without tirelessly asking her to marry him, which Belle refuses. She nevertheless realizes that, behind the features of the animal, a man is suffering, the victim of a spel,l and she will help him by getting him out of it.
This romantic fable, staged by Alexis Goslain, fits perfectly with the mystery ruins of the abbey.
