- The most beautiful villages of Wallonia
Nestled in the bocage countryside, the village of Clermont-sur-Berwinne hides quite a few architectural gems, featuring a variety of genres and periods. No wonder it ïs considered one the prettiest villages in Wallonia! Take a stroll through its pretty street and make the most of the RAVeL network: the area simply is enchanting.
Surrounded by meadows and orchards, the village sits on a promontory and is dominated by its imposing church. Equally eye-catching are the slate roofs and iron weathervanes of the old houses, and its 19th-century town hall built of brick and stone.
A journey through time
History lovers will love the Remember Museum 39-44, which collections retrace the second world war. Near the village also is the Château de Crawhez and the castle-farm of l'Aguesse: from there you can enjoy a stroll along the former railway line 38, now part of the RAVel network.
Terroir delights
Just a few kilometres from Clermont-sur-Berwinne, in a former railway station, is the Espace des Saveurs et Découvertes. This shop features an incredible range of local products... You will be amazed at how much the region has to offer!
The unequalled Herve cheese
Such a treat! This fantastic cheese is perhaps the most famous product made in the region. Make sure to stop at the Fromagerie du Vieux Moulin, close to Clermont-sur-Berwinne, which has been preparing it for 3 generations. They may use modern tools but fear not, the recipe still hasn't changed much in centuries. Try it with a drizzle of one of Aubel's artisanal syrups, which has been keeping the tradition alive for 5 generations. The apple and pear flavours simply are perfect.
