- Folklore and Tradition
Enjoy this intensely atmospheric carnival thanks to the dynamism, good humour and participation of all the locals.
Program
The great carnival procession gathers over a thousand participants, including guilds and musical groups from the region. Once the procession begins, the city explodes in pure joy. The itinerary finishes with traditional dancing.
The following day, the town's children open a costume ball.
A grandiose finale
The following Friday, the funeral of the local folkloric character Mitchi Peket's funeral takes place together with the traditional tour of the Amaytois bistros in mourning costumes, punctuated by the motto "Beût-on ou tchant-on? Buvons po k'minser".
The festivities end the next day, in a grand finale, with the very looked forward waiters race intended for both adults and children and the proper trial of the macrale (symbolizing winter). Sentenced to the stake, she will perish in a great bonfire which will be followed by a magnificent fireworks display. The Amaytois can now welcome the approaching spring with open arms...
