At Grand-Hornu, the Musée des Arts Contemporains welcomes the German photographer Jochen Lempert for an exhibition dedicated to nature photography. This event will take place this fall in the province of Hainaut.
Nature photography exhibition near Mons
For his first exhibition within a museum institution in Belgium, Jochen Lempert invests 4 rooms of the MACS with his delicate shots of nature, testifying to a great mastery of composition and installation.
We are first struck by the simplicity of the means deployed:
- 35mm film SLR camera with normal focal length
- home-made black and white prints
- various formats of baryta paper that the artist arranges on the white background of the walls without framing,
- or even simple photograms of plants or animals for example.
These constellations of images produce a work that invites contemplation as much as reading through analogy or contrast between shapes, tones and subjects.
