After the death of his cat, his photograph, hung by his wife, intrigued Elliot Ross: what was the animal thinking when the photo was taken? Did he consciously look at the camera lens? Is its animal consciousness so different from that of a human being? From these questions was born the Animal series, where the artist photographed animals around the world. Reworking his images, he deliberately removed traces of their environment, delivering powerful portraits devoid of artifice.
