Step into the valley where the Cistercian monks of Orval have lived for nearly 1000 years. There, they established fish ponds and even developed a metallurgical industry, driven by the stream's mills. Onthe other side of the valley, you will reach a lost hamlet, Le Chameleux and a village on the French border, Williers, splendid in its isolation.
By following the grassy paths and duckboards beyond the Abbey, the humid valley of Orval opens up beautifully. This loop runs along the Williers river which waters the long Alfait meadows, now protected.
Departure: Orval, 7 at 6823 Florenville
