Set in the countryside, only a few kilometres from Soignies in the province of Hainaut, the Château de Louvignies awaits.

Passed down from generation to generation in the Villegas de Saint-Pierre, the castle was mostly reconstructed in the 19th century, particularly between 1878 and 1885, under the supervision of architect Désiré Limbourg and landscape architect Louis Fuchs.

The home became a welcoming castle presenting an eclectic range of architectural styles while retaining some elements of the previous constructions. The interiors, the furniture and domestic items have been kept, giving the visitors a wonderful insight into the Belle époque.

A fascinating tour will take you from the white sitting room to the dining room with its imposing fireplace on the ground floor, from the upstairs bedrooms to the downstairs kitchens with their huge stove or even to the laundry room.

A real film-set décor

The castle has been used several times as a filming location, with Germinal by Claude Berri being one of the most famous movie featuring it. François Ozon also filmed Angel there. More recently Marie Gillain used it for a few scenes in her film Landes.

Walks in the park

Continue your visit with a walk in the English-style park, designed by Fuchs in 1870. It is planted with 20 of the most remarkable trees in Wallonia, a few of which are listed on the "Parcs et Jardins" website. You will also stumble upon an ice-house and a charming vegetable patch.
