Remembrance Trails. Follow the 1914-1918 front to discover memorials to the Great War in the area of Ploegsteert and Comines-Warneton.
The Tourist Office of Comines-Warneton proposes a trip down memory lane to various historical sites relating to the First World War.
Starting from the Centre d'interprétation Plugstreet 14-18 Experience, the visitor will have the chance to discover the sites of the catacombes, the Ploegsteert woods and the Mount of the Hut (Hill 63), the craters left by the mine explosion, the site of the 1914 Christmas Truce with the Croix de Saint-Yvon regularly decorated with symbolic football objects, the many British cemeteries, the "cottage" of Bruce Brainsfather who created the character Old Bill, the tribute plaque in honour of Winston Churchill.
