The secret of the Maitrank is jealously guarded in Arlon, everyone having their own recipe. This festival, which takes place every year on the third Sunday in May, celebrates this amazing drink.
So what is Maitrank?
This Arlon beverage is extracted from sweet woodruff flower soaked in Moselle wine with oranges and other spices. Every year, the city celebrates its local aperitif, a seasonal drink that is typical of the region.
The festival
During these festivities, folk bands parade across the city. Several Maitrank tasting stands are set up in the centre of town where a fountain of the famous drink lies, while a show takes place on the Place Leopold.
