The Maison du Pays de Salm presents the history, geology, and folklore of Vielsalm. Visitors will learn of the famous Counts of Salm, the mysterious Macralles, the fascinating galleries of schist and coticule Strange name for a stone... Interestingly, they were used to sharpen tools.
Your visit
After watching a documentary, visitors will discover galleries dedicated to the mines and geology of the Pays de Salm. They feature, amongst other gems, an animated scale model, tools, photos, historical documents presenting the local quarry/mine workers and artisans' skills. Follows the enigmatic world of legends and Macralles in the region.
In summer, the mascot of the Maison du Pays de Salm joins in to welcome families.
Family fun
Children can discover the galleries at their own pace with a trail designed just for them. It has been adapted for French, Dutch, English and German speakers.
