- The most beautiful villages of Wallonia
Discover Chassepierre, nestled in the cradle made by the Semois and named one of the prettiest villages in Wallonia. It's full of surprises too - from a network of Prehistoric underground galleries to the oldest festival in Europe dedicated to street entertainment.
An enchanting village
Just 4 km from Florenville, the village of Chassepierre is ideally located by the Semois. Visitors will enjoy wandering through its pretty streets, admiring the traditional houses, church, mill and washhouse on the way.
The Trou des Fées
The village is also notable for its network of underground galleries below the church, known as Le Trou des Fées, which were dug by hand and are today accessible by a footbridge. They stretch all the way to the cellars of the presbytery.
There are other cultural trails in and around the village. Make sure to go all the way to the Florenville-Bouillon road, which overlooks the Semois river.
The International Street Arts Festival
The village is at its most cheerful in August when it hosts the oldest festival dedicated to street arts in Europe. Over 50 companies, from all around the world, will join: theatre, dance, circus, music, puppets, graphic arts and more.
Restaurants
La Vieille Ferme, former stables turned into a restaurant at the heart of the village, will remind you of Provence. Settle inside or on the terrace and let its dishes (French or inspired by the Gaume and Ardenne region) delight your senses.
Another favourite is the Relais de Chassepierre to relax with a locally brewed beer or taste a local speciality, prepared with love... This address also has a counter with regional products.
