Near the castle of Godefroid de Bouillon, the Ducal Museum overlooks the Semois and occupies two listed buildings dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.
The most recent of the two buildings is the former residence of Nicolas-Joseph Spontin, Counselor at the Sovereign Court of Bouillon in the 18th century. The oldest, called "House of the Bouillonnais Government" served as housing for officers of the castle, as for example, Lieutenant Vernes.
Varied collections
The museum retraces Hstory between the Middle Ages and the first crusade. It also highlights local folklore and presents:
- The Ardenne school of painting
- Life in Bouillon in the 18th century
- Its rich industrial past (mainly ironwork)
