Having been in storage for almost 60 years, the Asian collections will be highlighted in Mariemont. And who better than the figure of Buddha to embody this imaginary of the distant East?

The exhibition questions the multiple representations of Buddha, the Buddhist pantheon and its rites and offers the keys to understanding this belief that has attracted interest for over a century and which, as a philosophy and religious practice, has many followers in Belgium and Europe.

Each sculpture, painting and sacred object on show carries a meaning, a devotion, an active significance.
