The Charleroi Museum of Fine Arts invites you to discover the exhibition "Art Deco and Modernism at Val Saint-Lambert," celebrating the 200th anniversary of the factory, a jewel of Belgian industry.
At the heart of the decorative arts of the interwar period
2026 marks the bicentenary of the renowned Val Saint-Lambert crystalworks. The Charleroi Glass Museum has partnered with other scientific and museum institutions to offer a comprehensive program of exhibitions to (re)discover this Belgian industrial gem.
From April 18 to September 27, 2026, the 400m² Charleroi Museum of Fine Arts will host the exhibition "Art Deco and Modernism at Val Saint-Lambert (1925-1939)," organized by the Glass Museum. Far from being chronological, this exhibition immerses you in the atmosphere of the interwar period, where, little by little, the flowing lines of Art Nouveau gave way to the more austere forms of Art Deco.
- Wander through four spaces to discover the full artistic splendor of the Val Saint-Lambert crystalworks:
- the design department and five personalities who contributed to the factory's renown;
- one evolving style;
- the Val Saint-Lambert's presence at international exhibitions;
- utilitarian glassware, a lesser-known aspect of Val Saint-Lambert.
Visitors will get to admire nearly 200 objects and archival documents from prestigious public and private collections.
From 18 April to 27 September 2026
- Tuesdays to Fridays, from 9am to 5pm.
- Weekends, from 10am to 6pm.
