Located in Mons, the CAP is composed of 3 major Culture, Art and Heritage sites: the Museum of Fine Arts of Mons (formerly BAM), the Maison des Collections and the Jardin du Poirier Beurré.
On April 13, 2024, a brand new museum complex opened its doors in the Cité du Doudou. Focused on Culture, Art and Heritage, this innovative project truly redefines the museum experience.
The Fine Arts Museum
After major work, the BAM reopened as Mons fines arts museum. This contemporary architectural project extends over 5,000 m2 spread over 3 levels, of which nearly 2,000 m2 are dedicated to temporary exhibitions highlighting the collections. Thanks to the two other CAP entities, this site also has the opportunity to open up to the city and its historical, urban planning, memorial and societal issues.
The Maison des Collections
Hosted in the former Jean Lescarts house, the Maison des Collections preset the history of Mons through municipal collections. A way to further promote the heritage of the Walloon cultural capital!
The jardin du Poirier beurré
This gardens aims at being the the link between the Museum of Fine Arts and the House of Collections. Free to access from rue Neuve, it is divided into 3 parts:
- the botanical-historical garden mixing sculptures and plant species associated with local history
- the cooperative permaculture garden
- the guinguette
