  • Folklore and Tradition

One the most looked forward folkloric traditions in the year! This vibrant carnival is the most important in the Walloon Brabant region.

Over 700 persons will dress as traditional characters (Gilles, peasants, Pierrots, Harlequins...) will walk through the city, offering oranges to the public. Look down, they all wear wooden clogs, the sound against the ground adding a beat to the orchestras joining the procession.

The Sunday cavalcade (with new floats every year), as cheerful and colourful, is sure to delight children and adults alike.

The program

  • Saturday: children's carnival

  • Sunday: cavalcade

  • Monday: schools' carnival and Aclot carnival

  • Tuesday: guilds go around collecting coins in the afternoon

A pure moment of joy.
