Outremeuse is one of the liveliest and most vibrant places to celebrate August 15th traditions in the Liège region. An absolute must-see.

This year will feature quite a few activities:

  • a flea market,
  • puppet shows,
  • traditional dances,
  • an outdoor mass with the sermon said in Walloon,
  • "Campes" firing (large crackers arranged in rosaries),
  • a procession (with the giants from the Liège Province)
  • also traditional games (greasy pole...)
  • concerts

A wonderful way to discover many of the local customs: culinary ones (such as pèkèt and boukètes) as well as traditions and popular games. The end of the festivities on 16 August is highlighted by the "Burial of the Mati l'Ohé": a ludicrous funeral escorted by fanfares and tearful widows...

Come and party in Outremeuse!
