Historical reenactments in Waterloo

A strategic site of the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, the Mont-Saint-Jean Farm served as a field hospital for wounded soldiers, giving rise to the historical name "English Hospital."

This event offers a complete family experience, blending reenactments, demonstrations, and educational activities:

  • Living reenactments
  • setup of a historical bivouac showing the daily life of soldiers

  • staging of the military field hospital with period medical procedures

  • realistic evocations of the care and evacuation of the wounded during the Napoleonic period

  • Animations and demonstrations
  • interactive workshops for young and old, including a soldier's school and explanations of military life

  • demonstrations of period surgery, to understand the methods of care on the battlefield, etc.

Visitors can also enjoy the presence of a blacksmith, guided tours, and captivating historical accounts. Cavalry, rifle and cannon fire, and more than 200 reenactors are engaged in period scenes.
