In Liège, the Grand Curtius invites you to discover Japonisme and Art Nouveau, a new temporary exhibition organized as part of the bicentenary celebrations of the Val Saint-Lambert Crystal Works.

The Val Saint-Lambert Art Nouveau style highlighted

In the spring of 1826, the Val Saint-Lambert factory fired up its first furnace: the beginning of a great human, commercial, technical, and artistic adventure. In this context, the Grand Curtius in Liège, along with other museums and scientific institutions, has created a Val Saint-Lambert Bicentenary event presented at several locations.

Through works produced between 1880 and 1914, the Grand Curtius exhibition reveals the importance and originality of the individuals involved in the Val Saint-Lambert Creation Department, as well as the expertise of the craftspeople. Together, they have built the factory's worldwide reputation.

The exceptional artist Léon Ledru, a lover of Oriental and Orientalist art, is given special prominence in the exhibition.

Also on display: approximately 150 works showcasing the aesthetics and techniques experimented with and developed by Val Saint-Lambert during those years.
