BeCraft takes over the Grande Halle of the Anciens Abattoirs in Mons with an exhibition bringing together creators around the theme of slaughterhouses. À la belle vue de l'abattoir is a must-see this spring.
A sensitive perspective on slaughterhouses
The exhibition À la belle vue de l'abattoir examines the imagery, history, and contemporary issues surrounding slaughterhouses. Whether through denunciation, memory, poetry, or critical analysis, the works invite visitors to take a sensitive and informed look at these sites of passage, abandonment, production, transformation, and—as of today—heritage.
This European collective exhibition aims to open a dialogue on what slaughterhouses reveal about our societies: our relationship with living beings, production methods, traces, and disappearance.
By creating a dialogue between artworks, archival documents, and life stories, the exhibit offers a complete immersion into a theme rarely explored in the field of applied arts. It pays tribute to the power of craftsmanship as a way to interpret the world.
Alongside the European selection, the exhibition showcases new, original works by six BeCraft members specifically commissioned for the occasion:
Isabelle Carpentier
Clémentine Correzzola
Joséphine Hazard
Machteld Lambeets
Claire Lavendhomme
Olivia Mortier
