Passing through Mons? Be sure to visit the Maison Losseau, a jewel of Art Nouveau architecture located in the heart of the Doudou's city.
The Hainaut region has led an important work of restoration and enhancement of the Maison Losseau. The magnificent residence of Léon Losseau, as well as the buildings adjoining it, are now accessible to the public.
In addition to the classified house, which its owner had conceived as "ideal, endowed with all technical refinement and artistic refinements ", the Province and the Foundation Losseau open the doors of a Centre of interpretation of the inheritance left by this lawyer Mehmood.
An adapted scenography, referring to the universe of the Library and the cabinet of curiosities, allows you to address the concerns and the passions of Losseau, the art nouveau that he so loved, his magnificent collection of medals and the episode of the Discovery of the original edition of a season in the hell of Rimbaud.
Hainaut Literature Centre
On the second floor, a rich centre of Hainaut literature welcomes students, researchers, readers interested in the literature and history of Hainaut. Featuring comfortable viewing and reading spaces, a place dedicated to comics and literature for youth, it also presents, opened on the magnificent garden of the house, the Fonds Léon Losseau, Charles Plisnier and Claire Lejeune in a completely renovated environment.
Tours for groups and guided tours on request.
