Prestigious witness of the medieval times in Belgium, the Château de Trazegnies presents its rich heritage through guided tours, events and cultural activities throughout the year.

History

The origin of the castle goes back to the 11th century. Of the fortified residence built by Gilles 1er, only remains the Romanesque cellar.

Visits

"Les Amis du Château de Trazegnies" organize guided tours by appointment: a fantastic way to learn more about the site's history, architecture and collections:

  • Louis XIII facade
  • Romanesque (rare testimony from the 11th century) and Gothic cellars
  • Park with a three-hundred-year-old plane tree
  • 2-storey gatehouse with a drawbridge
  • Prestigious Knights' Hall with its 18th century wall frescoes...

Don't miss the Musée des outils anciens, which, through its collection of tools, unrolls the lway our ancestors lived and works. The castle also has exhibitions highlighting its prestigious collections.
