About the artist
- A contemporary of Idel Ianchelevici, Willy Anthoons (1911-1982) was a major artist of the Belgian avant-garde movement.
- Cofounder of the Jeune Peinture belge, in which he is the sole sculptor, Willy Anthoons is now little known by the public
- Remarkable in many ways, Anthoons aims at pushing limits and abstract conventions of the time and brings to his work a personal lyricism, with a a touch of universality and mysticism
