Le Domaine de la bataille de Waterloo immerses visitors, in a spectacular way, in one of the most tormented periods of history.
Built underground by the Lion's Mound, the estate stretches over 2000 m². This location will tell you all about the famous battle thanks to an interactive app. Make sure to bring your earphones!
What to see:
- The Waterloo 1815 Memorial Museum the starting point of your travel through time. This includes the screening of a 3D movie.
- The Lion's Mound, built in 1826, overlooking the full battlefield
- The Panorama, a 110 m x 12 m painting depicting the battle
- A horse-drawn carriage tour to the Hougoumont farm, an iconic part of the battlefield
- Make sure to visit the Wellington Museum and Napoléon's last headquarters.
Simply buy the Pass 1815 ticket to enjoy all sites.
Activities
On summer days, and Thursdays-Sundays from April-June and September-October:
- A bivouac presenting the soldiers' daily lives
- Cannon demonstrations
- A fun little play presenting a soldiers' school
- Horse carriage rides between the Lion's Mound and the Hougoumont Farm
- An exhibition presenting women in that era and their role in war
- Two restaurants on site
