The Musée International du Carnaval et du Masque de Binche, at the very heart of a city famous for it Carnival characters (named the Gilles), invites you to discover the region's many festivals and traditions. You will easily understand why this cultural heritage has been protected by UNESCO.
The Carnival, as if you were there
The Binche Carnival's interpretative Centre will offer an immersive experience, designed to awaken all senses.
Archive pieces, unseen documents, testimonies, audio capsules, pictures, screenings... will place you at the very heart of this exceptional folkloric event. Visitors will be able to see, hear, touch and even smell the Carnival.
The Interpretation Center will be closed from September 11 to November 7, 2023.

From European winter festivals to enigmatic ceremonies in North America and Latin America, from mysterious African customs to fascinating traditions in Asia and Oceania... Visitors get to travel across the 5 continents and discover the fascinating universe of mask in all their forms.
The folklore and carnivals of Wallonia
Here you will discover a permanent gallery dedicated to Walloon carnivals and folklore. The great richness of the traditions of our provinces is exhibited there: ducasses, marches, processions, carnivals, bonfires... This colorful route bears witness to the various events that punctuate the lives of Walloons throughout the year.
