Make sure to add the Agaises vineyard on your map when planning your road trip in Wallonia. This estate - the largest in Belgium - produces fantastic sparkling wines.

The Agaises vineyard can be found in the commune of Estinnes, a few kilometres only from Binche. Born of the passion of a wine merchant, a farmer, a winemaker and 2 entrepreneurs, it came to life in 2002.

The vineyard

Planted at "Les Agaises" in Haulchin, the vines grow on a south-facing hillside, rich in limestone. The estate stretches over 23 hectares and counts 230 000 vines of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

The wine

Several sparkling wines are produced here, following the traditional method. The second fermentation takes place when bottles and laid on racks, a minimum of 12 months. The estate, which name comes for Lord Rufus who lived there in the 12th century, has already received several awards.
