La Bachée, located in the piscturesque village of Plancenoit, near the Waterloo battlefield, is Brabant farm dating from 1721. Perfect to combine ecotourism and visits to important historical sites.

If you like history and old stones, you've come to the right place. This guesthouse is located on the edge of the Plancenoit battlefield, near the most famous feline in the country, the lion of Waterloo. This Brabant farm, home to a B&B and a gîte, celebrated its tercentenary in 2022. It therefore predates the battle of 1815: a lot has happened outside these white walls. Even its large interior courtyard seems to belong to another space and time.

Bénédicte and William have decorated the place with family furniture. The chopping block in the gîte's living room, for example, comes from William's grandfather's butcher's shop. This meticulously designed decor nevertheless allows you to make the place your own. You also have plenty of time to relax in the private garden. You are a few kilometers from Waterloo and Braine-l'Alleud, lively cities with many shops and restaurants.

Go back in time - to 1815

Since La Bâchée is only 2.7 km from Waterloo's lion, you could walk there if you fancied, and take the opportunity to go down into the underground museum of the Memorial. In any case, it will be a nice warm-up for climbing the 226 steps of the mound. It is not the only attraction in the region, rich in museums and other memorial sites dedicated to the Battle of Waterloo. It is here that Napoleon was defeated on June 18, 1815, forever changing the destiny of Europe.

Cycle along the Route Napoléon, taking the time to read the explanations along the itinerary. Let yourself be overcome by emotion when visiting the Ferme de Mont-Saint-Jean where the Duke of Wellington set up his field hospital. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to experience the reenactment of the Battle of Waterloo on the first weekend of July... Surrounded by soldiers in period costume, you will set off to discover bivouacs, the handling of period weapons and forgotten trades.

The guest room is located on the far right of the farm.

It is a very bright room with a mezzanine for 1 to 3 people, which overlooks the inner courtyard, with a small garden and a parking space just opposite.
