Charleroi was once named by a Dutch suvey "the ugliest city in the world"... To fight that reputation, a passionate citizen created an urban safari: a wonderful way to (re)discover the buildings and characters who made this post-industrial city famous.

The program of this safari can be adapted to its public: families, companies for team buildings, photography clubs, small groups (10-15 persons), big groups (up to 150 persons) ...

The experience

The basic tour is divided in 3 parts:

  • town centre with the station, docks, stock exchange, south bank, the rue de la montagne, the top of the city (with a stop at the Musée des Beaux-arts and/or BPS22 depending on the weather)
  • a mine heap (a portion of the GR, the Piges heap)
  • a walk along the Ravel between Charleroi and Marchienne, coming back by the road to Mons, passing through Rockerill
