Make the most of the day by arriving as early as possible that morning: there is so much to enjoy…

Start by dropping off your suitcases at the YUST hotel, a mere 3-minute walk from the Liège-Guillemins station.

What will you choose: a room with a refined, elegant look or a seventies decor imbued with nostalgia and modern luxury? Whichever takes your fancy is a good choise: here, you are close to the Liège scene, but away from the hustle and bustle.

Go up to the rooftop for a drink… and a breathtaking view of the station, Calatrava’s impressive architectural masterpiece.

Now bag free, you can go treasure-hunting.

Every Friday, bargain rush to the Saint-Pholien, known with good cause, as the Champs-Elysées of flea markets. It has everything: second-hand clothes, kitsch objects, retro finds, antiques, attic gems… You can of course bargain for these amazing objects waiting for a second life.

Taking place every Friday until 1 pm, it takes place along the long central avenue lined with trees located on the island of Outremeuse.

Fill up on art at La Boverie

Continue down to the tip of the island to discover La Boverie, a hotspot on the Liège cultural scene.

Step in: the building dates from the Universal Exhibition of 1905 an even has a café, , where you can get a gourmet sandwich, a salad or a poke bowl.

Once you've settled in, it's time for art. Swoon over the Picassos, Chagall, Monets and other famous artists in the permanent collection of the Fine Art Museum.

A large glass space, on the first floor, hosts temporary exhibitions. Until mid-August, you can, for example, immerse yourself in the colourful world of abstract art.

Treat yourself to creative tapas

If sharing food makes you happy, the will make quite an impression: you can order small, exquisite, colourful plates, all rich in flavour to enjoy with your loved one(s).

Every ingredient is fresh, seasonal and cooked to the chef's mood. Expect bold, expressive combinations and a splendid wine list. No wonder this restaurant was recently voted a Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide.

Stroll along the Paliss’art street art trail

The Parcours Paliss'art, which starts just a few minutes’ walk from your hotel, stretches over 4.5 km around Les Guillemins and La Boverie. Think of it as an open-air museum…

Don’t forget your camera to capture the gables decorated with gigantic frescoes which sometimes pay homage to jazz, love or the Meuse river, or the walls featuring armed men or menacing sea creatures.

Make a small detour to see the the pretty greenhouses of the botanical garden. Dating from the 19th century, they shelter plants from all over the world and bring to mind an exotic jungle.

Have lunch in a street food court

Hungry yet? Stay in the “street” spirit and go to the Grand Poste, a food market with fantastic stalls selling treats such as Mexican burrito, Asian Bánh Mì stuffed bread, American hot dogs, Syrian gourmet plates, pasta mare, Liège-style meatballs... The hardest part is, as you can guess, choosing which one to start with.

You wash down your meal with a beer brewed on site by the the Brasseries de Liège

Or even, from the end of April, sit on the roof top for a grandiose view of the city,  good brews and Food Labs where the chefs change regularly. Pure happiness.

Enjoy an offbeat shopping afternoon

The old districts of Liège are a maze of small streets where artisans and creators have taken up residence. Far from the shopping malls and big brands, you will find a link[external|50402|multitude of independent vintage, designer and concept stores].

Our favourites? Rue de la Casquette, rue Souverain-Pont and En Neuvice which is also the oldest pedestrian street in the Fiery City.

While you're there, don’t miss the . It would be a sin not to discover this local spirit while in Liège…

Indulge in arty, no-fuss bistronomy

Here is what Moment guarantees: a moment alone. A moment to relax. A moment of shared conviviality. A moment of culinary creativity.

A large wood-fired oven sits in the open kitchen, where the chef comes up with creative, mouthwatering dishes: grilled or snacked meats and fish, homemade bread, garden vegetables, fermentation inspiration, bespoke drinks, natural, rock’n’roll wines. Good food, good fun is all that matters here.

For a last glass before bedtime, try Volga: their cocktails are to die for.

Sunday: market, local specialties and virtual immersion

Stroll through Belgium’s largest market

After a hearty breakfast, head towards the famous Batte market, which takes place every Sunday until 2:30 p.m. on the left bank of the Meuse. It is the oldest in Belgium and one of the largest in Europe.

Look at the colourful market gardeners' stalls, enjoy the pleasant aromas of the produce, find the T-shirt you had been dreaming of... It really has a special, cosmopolitan atmosphere.

If this walk opened your appetite, a succulent roast chicken with homemade fries awaits at “Saperlipopette a la patate”. Follow this with a stop at “Une Gauffrette Saperlipopette”, located at number 7 of the same street, to bring real Liège waffles home.
