Friday: a lodge in the countryside and a refined restaurant

An atypical lodge in a unique setting

<

Ever dreamed of sleeping in an unusual accommodation in the middle of a forest? Just a 10-minute drive from the city, the Utopia Resort, nestled in the Bois des Dames, feels like a fairy tale.

In addition to offering a more classic hotel, there are 10 lodges to choose from. One is a treehouse raising you 6 metres above the ground, one is inspired by diamond shapes, another by Le Corbusier work… All are in symbiosis with nature. Talk about a change of scenery!

New culinary horizons

Embark on an extraordinary culinary journey at Masu. Little-known ingredients, creative combinations, elaborate presentations, attentive service, carefully chosen music... Even the drinks are off the beaten track. Everything you taste sharpens your senses. This Bib Gourmand restaurant is incredibly original and refined.

Make sure to come on the Friday as Masu is closed on weekends. Do book too: the place only has a few tables.

The big names of tomorrow

Located on the superb site of the former slaughterhouses of Mons, galerie BeCraft is a springboard and for young artists and creators leaving art school. You will perhaps see the achievements of future stars…

Promoting applied arts crafts for Wallonia and Brussels, this gallery showcases Ceramics, glass, jewellery, paper, textiles, design objects.

Street art and unusual shops

Still hungry? Vis à Vis is just just 600 meters from galerie BeCraft and a few steps from the Grand Place.

Sit on the terrace if the weather permits, order an aperitif board and tapas but do save room for dessert…

Leaving Vis à Vis, still on the same street, do push the door of the Artefacto Store, a contemporary cabinet of curiosities. Gorgeous and intriguing.

Street art and unusual shops

Mons, filled with incredible murals, turns out to be open-air museum. Perfect for an after lunch stroll…

You can follow the Art in the city trail to see sixty art works, right in the centre.

On the rue des Fripiers, not far from the Mexican-inspired DUEK fresco, you will find 2 inspiring boutiques: Vie Moderne, a pop chic design decor store, and Hotsocks Vintage Shop, a brand dedicated to second-hand clothing and accessories vintage.

Back to essentials

Filled with colours and vibrancy, return to rue de la Coupe, where you had lunch.

This time, we suggest Origines, another enticing Bib Gourmand restaurant. Céline, inspired by ingredients from the local market, revisits great classics, with a twist, always enhanced with a feminine touch.

Too early for dinner? Stop for a drink at Hype, a lounge bar located opposite the gable adorned with poppies on rue des Chartreux. Or step away from the town centre for a un bon vin chez Malo.

Sunday: art, brunch and culture

A journey through time

Nicknamed the “paper version of Google” by the newspaper Le Monde, the Mundaneum is a museum space and archive centre like no other.

Its superb Art Deco building – resolutely Instagrammable – house, shall we say, the memory of the by the way of 12 million bibliographic records. Enough to know everything about everything, without thinking of the web.

Almost… Visitors can enjoy, until December 2024, #Fakeimages, a temporary exhibition unmask the excesses found on internet.

 No more rooms?

Far from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, Table et Chambre Particulière await. Stéphanie is passionate about gastronomy, Julien about beekeeping. Suffice it to say that breakfast, taken on the terrace or at the large dining table made from a single slice of tree, is incredible... This lodging, complete with an outdoor heated swimming pool is particularly serene. And while you are on the edge of Bois d’Havré, you will easily be able to reach the city on foot.
